    To use the sifter, I dumped a couple of shovel-loads of soil onto the screen and used a garden trowel to wipe the soil back-and-forth, causing the fine particles to fall through and the coarse chunks (stones, sticks and roots) to stay on top. If the soil is damp it requires more wiping. Dry sandy soil falls through with little wiping required.

I think the 100 tons is just a little exaggerated based on the video. 200,000 lbs. of loose soil like that would be well over 500 bucket fulls in your little loader.

For a shaker I just used a 1.5HP electric motor from an old furnace fan with a marginally lopsided ~6" wooden wheel on it.
